Dearest KCDG Sisters,

Thank you for the confidence you have shown me over the last year as I served as your President.  Your care and concern for me has made more difference than you can know. The donation made in my name to Alphapointe was a touching gesture that I will forever treasure!  A hearty thank you to all who donated to that.

Your incoming board is more than capable of taking us to even greater heights of sisterhood, I know they will do an amazing job! Susan Kastner has been with our organization for many years and she is ready to take the reins of leadership. Her heart and passion are Delta Gamma Sisterhood and Philanthropy.  Susan has an excellent complement of sisters ready and willing to do their part to keep our chapter strong.  Please consider joining them this next year in whatever capacity you can.

If you don’t already know, our Kansas City Alumnae chapter is one of the strongest in Delta Gamma. I am so proud of our chapter and I cannot wait to see what will happen in the future!

Delta Gamma love and hugs,

Beth Nichols-Kelloff, Delta Psi

A Night of Knowledge & Nonsense
Friday, April 6, 2018
Abdallah Shrine Temple

Let's make our 4th annual Night of Knowledge and Nonsense (NOKAN) a success! 2018 seems far away, but you can help this summer! If you have an appointment with your eye doctor, please consider hand delivering a letter to their office telling them about NOKAN 2018 and how they can help CCVI and Alphapointe. You don't need to develop the letter--we have one ready for you to use.

Contact Cathy Lemon at cathylemon520@gmail.com or 816 560-9025 for more information.

Chapter Makes Year End Donation

GKCDG Alum Chapter donated $300.00 to be used for summer school supplies and activities. One of the field trips planned is to eat lunch at Fritz’s Train Restaurant in Crown Center with a visit to the Thomas & Friends play area.

Final Trolley Run Numbers are in

In spite of the rain the 2017 Run had 7,409 Registered Participants with 3,239 finishers. There were 143 Corporate Sponsors with 68 Family teams. CCVI is still finalizing numbers but expect to net approx $350,000. Thank you again to the DGs who donated, volunteered and participated in the race!

It has been an amazing year for the 20/20 Club, an organization that helps fund and publicize CCVI. Coming off of the memorable Spectacle event last June, which raised over $40,000, the new 20/20 Club board made plans for this year, and added some new fundraisers and friendraisers. As of June 1, proceeds from all of these events, including dues from members, totaled over $36,600. Our membership drive kicked off in September, and in October, we held our first friendraiser. This Literary Luncheon event at Webster House featured a conversation with French novelist Antoine Laurain. In November, we returned to Hamburger Mary’s for a fun and funny HamBingo Night, with 10% of the proceeds donated to CCVI. Our annual December Gingerbread Lane, Holiday Luncheon, and Breakfast with Santa took place at Webster House for the first time, and each event was very well received. Our first Chuck-a-Puck Night, held in March at the Missouri Mavericks’ hockey game, brought in funds, as well as a lot of publicity. And, in April, Sunday FunDay, a new friendraiser, took place at No Other Pub in Kansas City.

CCVI was founded in 1952 by the Greater Kansas City Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter, the Junior League, and the Kansas City Association for the Blind (now Alphapointe), and serves over 350 children and their parents. Stay tuned for the upcoming fall event celebrating our 65th Anniversary!  Yes, it was an amazing year…and we invite all Delta Gamma alumnae to join this amazing organization!

MU Report

The women of Mu Chapter have enjoyed many, fun activities these last two months.

In April, we held Moms’ Weekend, which included shopping and drinks at Britches and Tonic, Karaoke, and brunch on Sunday. This was a great way for mothers to experience some of what college life is like for their daughters.

At the end of April, our sisters joined the men of Delta Tau Delta for Greek Week. We are happy to report our successes. Aside from wining the Volleyball Tournament, and Hannah Masur winning Fling’s best supporting actress for the second year, McKenna Brandenburg was selected for Greek Week Royalty!

In May, we said goodbye to our wonderful seniors, and wish them the very best as they begin this new chapter in their lives. Many other sisters will be studying abroad in places like Italy, Spain, Australia, and Prague. And, those of us who will be state side, we’ll be working hard at our jobs, internships, and classes at Mizzou.

Congratulations to our very own Emma Worgul for being inducted into the secret society, Omicron Delta Kappa! ODK recognizes excellence in academic achievement, leadership, performance, athletics and community service. Emma was one of 25 students on our campus of 39,000 to be “tapped” into the Omicron Delta Kappa, and we couldn’t be more proud.

Recruitment will be here before we know it, and we encourage you to sponsor women you know, and by July 22nd if possible. You can find a sponsor form at deltagamma.org by clicking on the box at the bottom of the home page. Once it is complete, you can email it to our vp: membership Kelsey Messner via mudgmembership@gmail.com. It is helpful to include a photo, since we expect so many women will be registering for Fall Recruitment. Should you have any questions, please contact our Membership Adviser and Alumnae Liaison, Liz Simmons, via elz.simmons@gmail.com

We will be moving in on August 5th for Recruitment Preparation Workshop 3, which will take place August 6th through the 13th. Fall Recruitment is from August 14th through August 18th, and Bid Day is on Saturday, August 19th at Faurot Field.

Our new home will be done in 2 months, and we can’t wait to show the Potential New Members our beautiful, state-of-the-art chapter house! Here is a glimpse of how the house is highlighting our anchor. The first is the anchor made of stone that will be placed at the side entrance, and another at the front entrance. The second is the anchor in the marble floor foyer. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony is during Homecoming weekend, on Saturday, October 22nd. Alumnae from all chapters are welcome to join us for this once-in-a-lifetime experience!

As always we SO appreciate the ongoing support from your alumnae chapter, and wish you a happy summer!

In the bonds,
Hannah Harper, Director: Alumnae Relations

I big thank you to the four DG's who volunteered at this very fun event - Susan Kastner, Janise Naughton, Lailan Bressler, and Beth Kelloff.

New! Northland DG Bridge Group

Friday, July 28th | 1:15-3:15pm
Home of Dee Shugart in Riss Lake
8009 Clearwater Dr - Parkville 64152

We had our first Northland bridge-learning-playing event Friday, May 12th. It was a lot of fun! Would enjoy having more people join us – south, east, west and north!

Our next bridge event will be Friday, July 21st 1:15-3:15 – my house – 8009 Clearwater Drive, Parkville, MO 64152.

The book I recommend is: Bridge for Everyone by D. W. Crisfield. The author makes learning bridge easy and is based on newer bridge guidelines. You can check out from the library, purchase online or in person at Barnes & Noble.

Also, we have DGs who would like to play but aren’t available during the day. A Wednesday evening was suggested- please let us know if you are interested in evening bridge. Some may be interested in both afternoon and evening bridge. Please let us know if you would like to join us (no past bridge playing experience is required)!

Please watch for boxtops on the products you purchase.
